About this Song
The Filipino pop creator behind this work builds on decades of sustained, innovative pop production emerging from the island nation to shape SOULFUL, a sound that anchors itself to the core commitments of the global pop genre while rooting itself firmly in the cultural context that informs all of the creator’s output. For creators working in pop from the Philippines, every new sound they release contributes to a growing, interconnected community of creators who reimagine what pop can be, adapting the genre’s flexible structures to reflect the specific experiences, perspectives, and creative priorities that arise from working within the archipelago’s rich, layered creative ecosystem. This ecosystem draws on centuries of cultural exchange, blending local creative traditions with global artistic influences to create work that feels both of its home and accessible to audiences far beyond the Philippines’ borders, and SOULFUL exists as a key addition to this lineage of thoughtful, boundary-pushing pop.
