About this Song
The Filipino pop rock band Cup of Joe formed in Baguio in November 2018, signing with Viva Records the following year. The current lineup includes lead vocalists Gian Bernardino and Raphaell Ridao, lead guitarist Gabriel Fernandez, rhythm guitarist CJ Fernandez, and keyboardist Xen Gareza. Bassist Raphael Severino departed from the band in June 2024 after five years. Cup of Joe defines their sound as "experimental," incorporating acoustic pop, retro, alternative pop, retro-wave, and neo-folk, with their music influenced by their Baguio environment. Music critics have praised their ability to create catchy tunes with relatable lyrics and their blend of various styles. For instance, Punch Liwanag of *Manila Bulletin* lauded their 2020 songs "Sagada" and "Hayaan" as mid-tempo ballads that highlight their alt-pop style, noting "Sagada" for its "lilting" quality and themes of catharsis. Their 2021 single "Bukod Tangi" was described as a jazzy, new wave-flavored track, drawing comparisons to Truefaith.
