The Philippines’ vibrant local pop ecosystem has cultivated a new wave of acts that balance mainstream appeal with distinctly regional creative identity, and Cup of Joe stands as one of the most promising young groups to emerge from that landscape. The band, a pop/alternative collective hailing from the North of the country, counts six members whose combined talents build the rich, cohesive discography that has come to define their work: Gian Bernardino on vocals, Raphaell Ridao on vocals, Gabriel Fernandez on lead guitar, CJ Fernandez on rhythm guitar, and Xen Gareza on keys, each bringing their own distinct skill to every track the group releases, including the pop sound Bubog that anchors their growing list of widely received offerings. Their first major formal project, a much-awaited debut EP titled Patutunguhan, marked the band’s introduction to a national mainstream audience, featuring a slate of new original songs that showcased their range as songwriters and collaborative performers.
