Alas Dose anchors the evolving catalog of the Filipino pop band Cup of Joe, a young group that emerged from the northern region of the Philippines to build a discography defined by cross-genre flexibility and wide, cross-platform resonance. The sextet brings together the complementary vocal work of Gian Bernardino and Raphaell Ridao, layered over the melodic guitar work of lead guitarist Gabriel Fernandez and rhythm guitarist CJ Fernandez, rounded out by Xen Gareza’s keys, a lineup that has cultivated a consistent, recognizable sound across every release they’ve put out. Their first major project came in the form of the highly anticipated Patutunguhan, the band’s debut EP that marked their formal introduction to a national audience, packed with original new tracks that showcased the range of what the group could create, from tender collaborative cuts to hook-driven standalone singles.
