The Cebu music scene of the late 1990s fostered a generation of artists who would go on to shape the sound of Filipino popular music for decades, and Cueshé stands as one of the most prominent acts to emerge from that fertile cultural landscape. Formed in 1998, the band spent their early years growing alongside other local creators, performing in small venues across their home province, refining their approach to music before making the move to Manila, the country’s capital and central hub for the national music industry. Establishing themselves in Manila’s sprawling community of working artists, the band continued to hone their craft, building an audience that grew beyond the regional fanbase they had cultivated in Cebu, eventually breaking through to mainstream recognition across the Philippines in 2005.
