American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor Christopher Maurice Brown, born in Tappahannock, Virginia, on May 5, 1989, signed with Jive Records in 2004 at the age of 15. His self-titled debut album, *Chris Brown*, released in 2005, sold 154,000 copies in its first week and debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, achieving double Platinum certification by the end of 2006. This album featured the chart-topping single "Run It!", which made Brown the first male artist since 1995 to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
