Christopher Maurice Brown, born in Tappahannock, Virginia, on May 5, 1989, is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actor. He signed with Jive Records in 2004 at the age of 15, leading to the release of his self-titled debut album in 2005. This album featured the chart-topping single "Run It!", which made him the first male artist since 1995 to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart. "Run It!", produced by Scott Storch and co-written with Sean Garrett and Juelz Santana, was released as a single on June 30, 2005, and later saw a remix featuring Bow Wow and Jermaine Dupri. The debut album, *Chris Brown*, sold 154,000 copies in its first week, debuted at number 2 on the Billboard 200, and was certified double Platinum by the end of 2006. Brown's early work drew comparisons to artists like Usher and Michael Jackson due to his vocal and dancing abilities. His second album, *Exclusive*, released in 2007, was commercially successful and included the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "Kiss Kiss.
