About this Song
For generations, artists based in the Philippines have drawn from the core structural and expressive traditions of R&B to reimagine the form through the specific cultural, social, and creative priorities that define their local creative ecosystem, building a body of work that carries the global genre’s foundational commitment to emotional clarity while weaving in the layers of context that make each recording distinct to its place of origin. This line of creative evolution stretches across decades, with creators building on the work of those who came before them, refining how the genre’s core traits can translate to the lived experiences of audiences in their home country, while also resonating with audiences around the world who connect with R&B’s universal ability to carry nuanced, unfiltered feeling.
