About this Song
R&B’s global journey from its foundational origins to every corner of the world’s creative landscapes has been marked by consistent reinvention, as local creators take the core framework of the genre and shape it to fit their own creative priorities, cultural reference points, and artistic visions, resulting in a sprawling, diverse body of work that retains the genre’s core identity while blooming into hundreds of distinct regional iterations. No corner of the world has embraced this process of reinvention with the same sustained curiosity and creative output as communities across the Philippines, where R&B has taken root as one of the most vital, consistently explored popular music forms, woven into the country’s broader creative ecosystem that has long turned to global genres to expand the range of its own artistic output.
