About this Song
Folk traditions woven across the thousands of inhabited islands that make up the Philippines carry distinct, place-specific identities that bind communities across generations, and every folk sound curated in this global catalogue of traditional music centers those unbroken ties to local heritage, including Mga Sayaw Na Likas, a folk sound rooted in the Philippines’ vast landscape of communal cultural practice. The catalogue’s framing of Philippine folk music prioritizes the continuity of traditions that have been passed down through informal, community-led lineages, situating every sound in the folk category within the broader archipelago of creative expression that defines the country’s cultural output.
