About this Song
Minus One recordings hold a singular, beloved place in Philippine popular culture, a format that has long served as a backbone for community gatherings, amateur performance nights, and personal creative exploration across the archipelago. Dahil Tanging Ikaw - Minus One, rooted in the country’s vibrant R&B scene, carries that format’s core purpose while leaning into the genre’s rich, layered history within the Philippines’ modern musical landscape. R&B as a recorded and performed genre in the Philippines has never been a static import, but a sound that has been shaped and redefined by local creators, weaving in the melodic sensibilities that have long defined Filipino popular music, the emphasis on emotional resonance that underpins nearly all forms of music made and consumed in the country, and the rhythmic nuance that transforms global R&B templates into something distinctly, unmistakeably Filipino.
