About this Song
Pop as a global creative form carries unique, irreplicable inflections tied to the local contexts that nurture and reimagine it, and the sound carrying the title Tricky emerges from that long, rich lineage of creators across the Philippines expanding and reworking the boundaries of what pop can communicate and contain. The core tension that defines so many of the most compelling pop works anywhere in the world is the balance between broad accessibility that allows a sound to connect with audiences far beyond its immediate creative space, and the retention of enough specific, rooted identity to feel authentic to the world that shaped its creation, and Tricky sits firmly within that productive, meaningful tension, drawing on the dual pull of global pop conventions and the specific cultural context that gave it form.
