About this Song
Rooted in the expansive, evolving R&B ecosystem that has grown across the Philippine archipelago for decades, Kabet exists as a distinct entry in a lineage of sound that balances the core textures of the genre with the unspoken cultural currents that shape every work to emerge from the country’s creative communities. What makes any sound to emerge from the Philippines’ R&B landscape carry such specific weight is the way the genre has been reimagined, not adopted wholesale, by generations of creators who fold the quiet intensity, the layered modes of connection, and the nuanced understandings of desire and distance that define daily life across the islands into every layer of their work, and Kabet fits seamlessly into that legacy while carving out its own small, unforgettable space within the broader canon of Filipino recorded sound.
