About this Song
Backburner carries the intentional creative signature of NIKI, a sound work rooted in the Philippines, a place whose long, vibrant history of artistic innovation has given rise to creators who turn every shade of human feeling into work that transcends the limits of any single genre or cultural boundary. As a credited work from an artist whose practice is tied to that rich Filipino artistic lineage, Backburner exists as a distinct piece of creative output that carries all the weight of the care and intentionality that went into its creation, a piece that invites anyone who encounters it to sit with the layers of meaning that emerge not from any flashy or premeditated framing, but from the quiet, unshakable purpose that defines every work NIKI puts into the world.
