About this Song
Ikaw emerges as a sound rooted in the R&B creative ecosystem of the Philippines, a space that has cultivated a distinct, enduring approach to the genre that balances the formal and thematic throughlines that define R&B across the globe with the specific cultural nuances that shape creative work originating from the archipelago. To center a work within this framework is to place it alongside a long lineage of creators from the Philippines who have turned to R&B as a vessel for exploring the full range of human connection and emotion, a lineage that has grown and evolved alongside shifts in global creative production while retaining the core identity that makes Filipino R&B a distinct and vital part of the broader genre’s landscape.
