About this Song
The Philippines’ modern music landscape is anchored in part by a thriving, nuanced R&B scene that has grown exponentially over recent decades, merging the core structural and expressive foundations of the global R&B genre with the unique cultural sensibilities that shape creative output from Filipino creators, regardless of where they are based around the world. This scene is not a new phenomenon, but rather a continuous evolution of the country’s long history of engaging with and reimagining global genre forms to fit local storytelling needs, a pattern that has played out across almost every style of music to gain traction in the Philippines over the last century.
