Almost ten years ago, Ladun Awobokun grew bored of her job as a financial markets researcher and began seeking a new challenge. At the time, her plan was to pivot into consulting, but before making that move, she wanted something to tide her over. Her “temporary” job was at FilmOne, which she assumed would be an easy role. Two days in, she realised that film distribution was far more challenging than she had imagined. What began as a stopgap quickly became a challenge she was determined to conquer, and over the years, she has done just that. Awobokun has taken on major leadership roles at FilmOne, carving out a path for herself as a key player in Nigeria’s film distribution landscape.
