Co-founding the record label and talent management firm TulusCompany alongside his older sibling Riri Muktamar, TULUS built an independent creative ecosystem rooted in the Indonesian music landscape that centers his own self-penned work, while expanding over time to lift up other creators across a range of artistic disciplines. TULUS first launched his formal music career in September 2011, stepping into the industry as both a singer and songwriter who creates every track he releases, a throughline that would define every project he put out over the coming years. That level of intentional creative control extended to every layer of his work, from the writing and composition of his songs to the editing of the official music videos that accompany them, including the visual for his track Sepatu, which first arrived to audiences on November 29, 2013, ahead of its parent album Gajah, which released in 2014.
