As a leading creative voice from Indonesia, Tulus built his artistic practice on a foundation of full creative control from the launch of his music career in September 2011, working as both a performer and a songwriter who pens every track released under his name. What began as a solo creative venture quickly expanded to encompass a full supporting ecosystem for his work and the work of other artists, when he co-founded TulusCompany, a record label and talent management firm, with his older brother Riri Muktamar. Through that enterprise, Tulus has released five full albums, every track of which is written by him, with long-time collaborator Ari Renaldi serving as producer across his entire discography. Lagu Untuk Matahari, the official audio of which anchors this release, is drawn from his 2014 album Gajah, one of those five career-spanning full-length releases, and it bears all the hallmarks of the consistent creative partnership that defines Tulus’s body of work.
