About this Song
ShawnMendesVEVO, the credited creator of Treat You Better, brings a creative perspective rooted in the Philippines, where a sprawling, diverse community of creators regularly pushes past the limits of traditional genre classification to build work that feels entirely their own. The sound’s listing as Other/Other/Other is not a lack of definition, but a recognition that this work rejects the narrow boxes that so often shape how audiences engage with music, refusing to be reduced to a single set of stylistic markers that might erase the unique choices that define Treat You Better. For creators building their practice in the Philippines, the freedom to craft work that exists outside of preordained genre lanes opens up space to engage with a wide range of creative impulses, unshackled from the expectations that come with being tied to a specific commercial or stylistic category.
