About this Song
Shawn Mendes, the artist credited for this sound, anchors the recording in a creative throughline that moves from his identity as the work’s primary creator to the specific, unique iteration of Treat You Better that is rooted in the creative landscape of the Philippines. This work carries a classification that situates it outside the standard, widely used genre frameworks that are often applied to recorded sound, a choice that reflects the fact that this recording does not align neatly with the tropes, conventions, or boundaries that define most commonly cited music genres, allowing it to exist as a piece of work that stands on its own terms, unburdened by the expectations that often come with being sorted into a pre-defined genre category.
