About this Song
The creator behind this work emerges from Indonesia’s sprawling, dynamic community of pop practitioners, a network that spans the country’s thousands of islands, connecting emerging and established creators alike as they explore the endless possibilities of the pop format. This community has long fostered an approach to pop that balances global genre conventions with the unmistakeable cultural perspective of the archipelago, creating a shared artistic language that allows any creator working within the scene to ground their work in a lineage of Indonesian pop innovation that stretches back decades. Every artist who contributes to the country’s pop landscape draws from this shared foundation, building on the choices of those who came before them while bringing their own unique perspective to bear on the work they create, ensuring that the genre continues to grow and shift to reflect the changing experiences of the people who make and listen to it across the country and around the world.
