Kegagalan Cinta
About this Song
Indonesia’s archipelagic expanse, spanning more than 17,000 islands that hold hundreds of distinct ethnic, linguistic, and cultural groups, has long positioned the nation as one of the most generative sources of creative sonic output within the global framework of World Music, a category built to center works rooted in regional, culturally specific identities that fall outside the narrow bounds of Western-dominated mainstream commercial music and classical traditions. Kegagalan Cinta emerges from this vast, layered national creative ecosystem, joining a long line of Indonesian sonic works that have shaped and redefined what the World Music category can encompass, moving it far beyond early, limited framings that reduced the genre to static, historical recordings of “ancient” traditional practices.
