In Indonesia, Dewa 19 is considered one of the greatest rock bands in the history of popular music, known for a musical style characterized by a blend of rock, pop rock, soft rock, alternative rock, symphonic rock, hard rock, pop metal, and arena rock. The band's name, Dewa, is an acronym of the founding members' names: Dhani, Erwin, Wawan, and Andra, with "19" added to represent the average age of the members when the band was officially established and when their first album was being worked on in 1991. Led by singer-songwriter Ahmad Dhani, the Surabaya, East Java, group formed in 1986 and disbanded in 2011 before regrouping in 2019 for reunion shows. The band's sound, heard on tracks like "Roman Picisan," features powerful yet melodic rock arrangements, integrating keyboard layers with guitar riffs. Throughout their career, Dewa 19 has sold over 7 million albums in Indonesia and received numerous awards, including BASF Awards and AMI Awards.
