Born in 1997 in Tulungagung, East Java, Silvy Kumalasari cut her teeth as a performer at local cultural gatherings, weddings, and wayang shadow puppet shows across her home region, building a mastery of the traditional sinden vocal craft that would form the backbone of her later career. The self-titled album Silvy Kumalasari, rooted in Indonesia’s rich musical landscape, brings together collaborations with Royal Music, Shepin Misa, Simpatik Music, and Om Lorenza. Classified under Music/Other, the release captures the unclassifiable cross-genre approach that made Kumalasari one of the most recognizable voices bridging Indonesia’s traditional and modern creative spheres.
