Sheila on 7, an Indonesian alternative rock band formed in Yogyakarta in 1996, is known for a blend of rock and pop elements, characterized by catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics, and strong vocals. The band's songs often explore themes of love, friendship, and everyday life. The initial lineup included Akhdiyat Duta Modjo on vocals, Saktia "Sakti" Ari Seno and Eross Candra on guitar, Adam Muhammad Subarkah on bass, and Anton Widiastanto on drums. The name "Sheila on 7" refers to the seven-note solfège, and their fanbase is called "Sheilagank." Signing with Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia in 1998, their self-titled debut album, released in 1999, was ranked #33 on *Rolling Stone Indonesia*'s "The 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time" and achieved multi-platinum status. Sheila on 7 became the first Indonesian band to sell over one million copies for each of their first three albums.
