"Berhenti Berharap" is a pop recording from Indonesia by Sheila on 7, an alternative rock band formed in Yogyakarta on May 6, 1996. The band's initial lineup included Akhdiyat Duta Modjo on vocals, Saktia "Sakti" Ari Seno and Eross Candra on guitars, Adam Muhammad Subarkah on bass, and Anton Widiastanto on drums. The name "Sheila on 7" refers to the seven-note solfège, and their fanbase is known as "Sheilagank." Sheila on 7 signed with Sony Music Entertainment Indonesia in 1998. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1999, reached multi-platinum status and was ranked #33 on *Rolling Stone Indonesia*'s "The 150 Greatest Indonesian Albums of All Time." The band holds the distinction of being the first Indonesian band to sell over one million copies for each of their first three albums. Their second album, *Kisah Klasik Untuk Masa Depan* (2000), topped the Billboard Malaysia Hits Albums chart and is listed at #8 on the all-time best-selling Indonesian albums.
