About this Song
The choice to craft and release a new version of an existing pop work grows out of a longstanding, cross-cultural tradition within popular music, one that allows creators to reposition a track that has already resonated with audiences, bringing it to new listeners or offering a fresh take that aligns with the evolving creative impulses that define any active, thriving pop scene. Pedih (New Version) emerges from Indonesia’s vibrant, multifaceted pop ecosystem, a space that has cultivated a diverse range of pop output that connects with listeners across the country’s thousands of inhabited islands, as well as the large global diaspora of Indonesian people who seek out music that feels tied to their cultural home while also fitting seamlessly into the global tapestry of popular music that unites fans across borders.
