Japan’s vibrant rock circuit of the early 2000s, rooted in Tokyo’s dense network of live venues, rehearsal spaces, and independent creative communities, spawned a wave of acts that redefined what Japanese popular rock could be, and one of the most enduring groups to emerge from that moment is the collective at the heart of Kumpulan Lagu One Ok Rock, a gathering of work from the band formed in Tokyo in 2005. From its earliest days, the band built its creative foundation on the interplay of its members, with an initial line-up that featured two guitarists: Toru and Alexander Onizawa, known to fans and bandmates alike as Alex, who joined the group alongside the core roster that would anchor the band’s entire career: Taka, Toru, Ryota, and Tomoya.
