Born Riefian Fajarsyah in Yogyakarta on March 16, 1983, Ifan Seventeen grew up in Jakarta, building a career that would tie his identity inseparably to one of Indonesia’s most prominent musical groups, even as unthinkable personal and professional loss reshaped his path forward. Sungguh Sempurna, one of his solo works, arrives as part of a discography that reflects both the pop traditions that launched his career and the hard-won perspective forged by years of navigating public acclaim and private grief. Ifan first stepped into the national spotlight when he auditioned for and won the role of vocalist for the band Seventeen in 2008, stepping in to replace the group’s previous frontman. At the time he joined, Seventeen was already a well-known, well-loved staple of the Indonesian music industry, with an established audience that only grew as Ifan stepped into his dual role as lead singer and primary songwriter for the group.
