Riefian Fajarsyah, known professionally as Ifan Seventeen, was born in Yogyakarta on March 16, 1983, and grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia’s bustling capital that would shape his early entry into the country’s music scene. He joined the prominent Indonesian band Seventeen as a vocalist in 2008, landing the role after completing a formal audition process that saw him step into the position previously held by the group’s original vocalist. At the time Ifan joined Seventeen, the band was already a well-known staple of the Indonesian music industry, with an established fanbase and reputation that he would build on over his years leading the group. As a singer and songwriter, Ifan built an extensive catalog of beloved tracks, including widely popular songs “Lelaki Hebat,” “Selalu Mengalah,” “Jaga Selalu Hatimu,” “Jalan Terbaik,” “Menemukanmu,” “Ayah,” and “Kemarin.” His life and career took an unthinkable turn in 2018, when Ifan lost all of his Seventeen bandmates in a devastating tsunami disaster.
