About this Song
Raim Laode, the Indonesian creative behind the sound Iqro', anchors this work in an artistic lineage rooted in the vast, culturally diverse landscape of his home country, where musical expression draws from thousands of years of regional tradition, contemporary experimental practice, and the unique cross-pollination of influences that shape creative output across the archipelago. Classified under Music/Other, Iqro' occupies a space that rejects the narrow, often Western-centric genre frameworks that shape most global music categorization, frameworks that frequently fail to account for the nuance, specificity, and cultural rootedness of work that emerges from contexts outside the mainstream global music industry’s most heavily marketed regions.
