Irvan Nurman, known professionally as Ipank, is an Indonesian singer and actor of Minangkabau descent. He was born on December 23, 1987, in Solok, West Sumatra, Indonesia, grounding his creative work in the cultural traditions of his home region from the very start of his career. He launched his career as a Minang singer in 2011, stepping into the industry with a clear focus on honoring his roots while expanding his creative reach to connect with audiences across Indonesia and beyond. His debut album, Rantau Den Pajauah, earned strong commercial success, proving that his fusion of traditional and modern sounds resonated with wide audiences and establishing him as a standout new voice in the regional music scene. That same album’s title track led to one of Ipank’s earliest notable collaborations, as he performed the track with fellow artist Rayola, setting a pattern of creative partnership that would define much of his later career.
