Derana - Live at Niti Mandala Renon
About this Song
Derana - Live at Niti Mandala Renon unfolds as a hip-hop sound work rooted in the creative landscape of Indonesia, a country where hip-hop has grown from a transnational global form into a deeply localized practice that carries the specific perspectives, priorities, and lived experiences of creators across the archipelago. The title’s inclusion of the “live” designation immediately situates the work outside of the controlled, studio-produced framework that defines many commercially circulated hip-hop releases, anchoring it to a specific time and place named explicitly in the title’s reference to Niti Mandala Renon, a site that carries inherent significance for the communities that gather there to engage with live music, exchange creative ideas, and connect with creators whose work resonates with their own lives.
