About this Song
World Music, as a curated and community-centered category that elevates sonic work rooted in distinct cultural and geographic contexts, serves as a critical space for centering creative expressions that might otherwise be overlooked by the dominant commercial music ecosystems that shape global media. The category’s core purpose is to honor the specificity of each work’s origin while creating a framework for cross-cultural exchange that doesn’t flatten the unique cultural identities that make each recording meaningful, and Lari Pagi, a sound emerging from Indonesia, fits perfectly into that longstanding mission of centering context-driven creative work from regions across the globe that carry rich, layered sonic histories.
