About this Song
Rock and roll’s circulation across Indonesia’s thousands of inhabited islands has fostered a body of work that engages with the genre’s core structural impulses while anchoring them to the distinct cultural geographies that shape every sound to emerge from the country’s creative communities. Canggih exists within this long, interconnected lineage of Indonesian creators working within rock and roll, drawing on the genre’s foundational traits while situating itself within the unbroken chain of creative production that links creative hubs across the archipelago to one another, and to the global networks that have carried rock and roll across every continent over the past seven decades.
