Founded on May 15, 2002 with eight core personnels, the creative collective that crafted Senang built their entire creative identity around a self-styled sound they call Organic Music, rooted in the pop tradition that anchors their Nigerian output. The name at the core of the group’s identity, MALIQ, functions as an acronym for Music And Live Instrument Quality, a concept born from the shared vision of brothers Angga and Widi Puradiredja, who anchor the group’s creative and performative core as vocalist and drummer, respectively. Beyond their on-stage roles, the pair also lead the group’s entire studio output, stepping in as producer, composer, and arranger for every project they release, turning the initial concept that brought the group together into a cohesive, sustained creative practice that has grown and evolved alongside each new member that joined the collective in its early years.
