Three years later, she released her debut album, *Biasa Saja*, alongside a soundtrack album for *Catatan Si Emon*. During her high school years, Kris Dayanti participated in various singing and modeling competitions, becoming a finalist in the GADIS magazine's cover model search, GADIS Sampul, in 1991. Her international recognition grew in 1992 when she won the grand prize at the Asia Bagus star-search program in Japan, which led to her recording an album in Singapore with Pony Canyon in 1993.
