About this Song
The interconnected network of independent music makers across Indonesia has long cultivated a creative ecosystem that pushes against rigid genre boundaries, prioritizing exploration of the full range of sonic possibility available to creators working outside mainstream industry structures. These creators center live, in-person gatherings as core spaces to test new material, connect with audiences that share their curiosity for uncategorizable sound, and build community that transcends the geographic divides of Indonesia’s archipelago, which stretches across thousands of islands and holds hundreds of distinct cultural traditions that inform every layer of the work emerging from its independent scenes.
