Nidji, an Indonesian rock band formed in Jakarta in February 2002, takes its name from the Japanese word for "rainbow." Their music, categorized as alternative pop, draws influences from bands like Coldplay and The Killers. The initial lineup featured Giring Ganesha on vocals, Ramadhista Akbar and Andi Ariel Harsya on guitars, Andro Regantoro on bass, Adri Prakarsa on drums, and Randy Danistha on keyboards and synthesizers. After signing with Musica Studios, Nidji released their debut album, *Breakthru'*, in 2005, which sold over 300,000 copies and earned a double platinum award. An English version of *Breakthru'* followed in 2006, and their second album, *Top Up*, arrived in 2007. Songs from both albums, such as "Heaven" and "Shadows," were used in Southeast Asian promos for the television series *Heroes*. Nidji contributed soundtrack music to the Indonesian film *Laskar Pelangi*, with the song "Laskar Pelangi" becoming an iconic anthem.
