The Indonesian rock band Nidji, formed in Jakarta in February 2002, takes its name from the Japanese word "niji" (虹), meaning "rainbow." The initial lineup included Giring Ganesha (vocals), Ramadhista Akbar (guitar), Andi Ariel Harsya (guitar), Andro Regantoro (bass), Adri Prakarsa (drums), and Randy Danistha (keyboards/synthesizers). Nidji signed with Musica Studios, releasing their debut album, *Breakthru'*, in 2005. This alternative pop recording, influenced by Coldplay and The Killers, sold over 300,000 copies and earned a double platinum award, with hit songs like "Sudah" and "Hapus Aku." An English version of *Breakthru'* followed in 2006, and their second album, *Top Up*, arrived in 2007. Songs such as "Heaven" from *Breakthru'* and "Shadows" from *Top Up* were used in Southeast Asian promotions for the television series *Heroes*. Nidji contributed soundtrack music to the Indonesian film *Laskar Pelangi*, with the song "Laskar Pelangi" becoming an iconic anthem.
