Basboi, born Baskara Rizqullah, built his creative foundation in the West Java city of Bandung, Indonesia, where he first shaped the blend of hip-hop, R&B, and cross-genre experimental flourishes that anchor every part of his discography, including the track Cantik. He launched his formal music career in 2017, introducing his voice to audiences through a string of well-received early singles: “Cozy,” “Dying Breed,” and “Night Drive,” each laying groundwork for the style that would soon earn him recognition both at home and across global hip-hop circles. Just two years after his debut, in March 2019, he shared his first full project, the debut EP Fresh Graduate, a collection that centers the specific, nuanced struggles of Indonesian teenagers, turning lived local experience into relatable, vivid work that resonated far beyond his original fanbase.
