About this Song
Hip-Hop, a genre that has evolved far beyond its Bronx origins to become one of the most widely practiced and culturally resonant creative forms across every inhabited continent, finds a distinct, deeply rooted expression in the work of Basboi and Quest*, the Indonesian creative pair behind the sound angin kencang, which is tied to the broader creative project marked by the context of HOMEBOi / EMPIRE. For decades, hip-hop has served as a universal language of creative expression, but it never loses its ability to adapt to the specific cultural contexts it enters, absorbing local artistic traditions, social perspectives, and community values to take on new shapes that feel both authentic to the genre’s core ethos and entirely unique to the creators that build it.
