Pop, the flexible, audience-centric genre that adapts to the cultural contexts of every region it touches, finds a warm, beloved expression in the work of Indonesia’s Kangen Band, whose track Pujaan Hati stands as one of the group’s most enduring career landmarks. Formed in 2005 in Bandar Lampung, Lampung, Indonesia, Kangen Band spent four years building a body of work that would lead to their third studio album, the eponymous Pujaan Hati, which was released under the Warner Music Indonesia label on May 6, 2009. The lead single from that album, the track Pujaan Hati, was written by the band’s own Dodhy Hardiyanto, who performs under the name Dodhy Kangen Band and serves as one of the group’s guitarists, rounding out a lineup that also includes lead vocalist Andika, second guitarist Tama, bassist Bebe, and keyboardist Izzy.
