About this Song
Juicy Luicy, the Indonesian creative behind Gurun Hujan, crafts a sound that resists easy categorization, landing in the broad, exploratory bracket of Music/Other, a space reserved for work that defies the standard genre silos that structure most popular and regional music from Indonesia and across the global music ecosystem. For artists building work in Indonesia’s vibrant, multifaceted creative community, the chance to release work that falls outside of more mainstream, widely recognized genres opens up a rare kind of creative freedom, one that rejects the unspoken pressure to tailor output to the expectations of niche fanbases, industry gatekeepers, or algorithmic systems that prioritize work that fits neatly into pre-existing boxes to drive consistent engagement.
