About this Song
R&B’s evolution from a distinctly American genre to a global creative force has been shaped by creators across every region of the world, each bringing their own unmatchable creative contexts to bear on the form’s core frameworks, and Indonesia stands as one of Southeast Asia’s most vibrant and consistent contributors to this global shift. For decades, creators based in Indonesia’s sprawling archipelago have engaged with R&B, merging their understanding of the genre’s global circulation with their own positions within the nation’s diverse creative ecosystem, building a body of work that feels both rooted in R&B’s long history and entirely specific to the experiences and creative priorities of Indonesia’s artistic community.
