Hailing from Kulon Progo, a regency within the Special Region of Yogyakarta, the collective that makes up GuyonWaton first introduced themselves to their local community as an acoustic dangdut band, building a loyal regional following that would grow to support their first full-scale orchestral live performance, captured here as the Indonesian hip-hop recording Sebatas Teman - GuyonWaton (Live Orchestra). That performance, staged as the centerpiece of the 2021 Lokaswara intimate concert held on December 18 of that year, was billed as “Sebuah Perjalanan Teruntuk Aku, Kamu dan Dia,” a labor of love brought to life through a formal collaboration between OKA Creativa and GuyonWaton Official that reimagined the band’s familiar core sound within an expansive, lush orchestral framework for a one-night-only event that drew together a sprawling network of local creative partners to pull off the ambitious production.
