Glenn Fredly, the Indonesian pop album, draws from the same rich, decades-spanning creative legacy that has defined one of the country’s most enduring musical forces, Yovie Widianto, whose life in art began with his birth in Bandung on January 21, 1968, to a family deeply immersed in the arts, with a particular devotion to music. Widianto’s inherent talent was visible long before he launched his professional career, revealing itself when he was still very small, with signs of his musical fluency emerging far earlier than most budding artists begin to hone their craft. Even while attending elementary school, Widianto was already skilled enough at the piano to spend time playing at one of Bandung’s most famous hotels, a rare opportunity for a child his age that served as an early indicator of the remarkable career that would unfold as he grew.
