Formed in Jakarta in 2010, Fourtwnty grew from a collaborative project between Indonesian music scene mainstays, including Roby Satria, who already had a foundational role as a member of beloved band Geisha, to become one of the country’s most definitive folk-pop acts, centering a signature sound that layers accessible indie and pop sensibilities with deeply resonant, poetic lyricism. The six-member band, made up of Ari Lesmana, Nuwi, Roby Satria, Andi Armand, Primandha Ridho, and Ryan Maulana, spent five years refining their creative approach before sharing their first full-length studio effort, 2015’s Lelaku, laying the groundwork for the critical and commercial acclaim that would define their career over the next decade.
