Indonesian pop-rock band Seventeen, active from 1999 to 2018, released six studio albums and fifteen singles. Formed in Yogyakarta in 1999 by schoolmates Yudhi Rus Harjanto, Herman Sikumbang, Zulianto "Zozo" Angga, and Windu Andi Darmawan, the band chose its name because all members were 17 years old at the time. Vocalists Yohan "Doni" Saputro and Riefian "Ifan" Fajarsyah, and bassist M. Awal "Bani" Purbani, joined later. The band officially formed on January 17, 1999, and its debut album, *Bintang Terpilih* ("Selected Stars"), was released on July 17, 2003, through Universal Music Indonesia. On December 22, 2018, while performing at a resort in Tanjung Lesung, the band was struck by the Sunda Strait tsunami, which resulted in the deaths of almost all band members, including Bani, Herman, and Andi, along with a crew member and their manager.
